Kids all over the world are doing great things. From random acts of kindness to leading charges to change the world, we are hearing about more and more kids becoming kid heroes due to the power of social sharing.
After raising thousands for charities by helping kids share birthday gifts, one thing we know for sure, is that kids have BIG HEARTS and we ARE changing the mindset of a generation. Every day… we are one step, one party, one kid closer.
Since closing our first round of funding, hiring 3 full-time staff members and a bunch of talented freelancers, we have been hard at work and thought it would be a good time for an update.
Lately, we’ve been focused on creating some great relationships with some awesome, impactful charities. More kids helping more kids = awesome!
Let us introduce you to our newest charity partners and friends:
Surf Dreams Foundation was founded by local surfer, Phil Jackson. Phil loves surfing. He thinks kids should be able to love surfing too. SDF helps kids, who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity, learn to surf, meet friends who surf and have access to the equipment to give it a shot. East Coasters rally behind Surf Dreams Foundation to support Take a Kid Surfing Days and Surfing Contests. Kids who surf are passionate about what they do and they love being able to “share the stoke” by giving half of their birthday gifts to help SDF provide more equipment and experiences for kids who need it.
Our friend, Mandi Simon, created Simon Says Give to help underprivileged kids experience a birthday celebration that they may not have otherwise been able to have. She’s 11, incredibly smart and has the biggest heart. When we found out that there was an organization like Simon Says Give, AND THAT IT WAS FOUNDED BY A KID, we couldn’t help but run to Twitter to try to make contact with this charity that aligned so well with what we are doing. We have big plans to help Mandi by providing a platform that lets kids share their birthday with a kid who wouldn’t otherwise have one. #perfect
We had another perfect connection with Miracle League. The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. Since the main barriers arise from the natural grass fields used in conventional leagues, Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assertive devices while helping to prevent injuries. Their organization is IMPRESSIVE! The kid spirit and their accomplishments blew us away…we can’t wait to help connect more kids with an organization that has done such a wonderful job helping kids all over the world. We are working on something great and hope to be able to share it with you soon!
Along with connecting with passionate, impactful charity partners, we are continuing to make KCGT better by adding features and products.
Cool stuff we a working on:
- FRIEND AND TWIN PARTIES: Sharing is caring and we heard you loud and clear when you said your kids wanted to host their party with their best friends and twin siblings! So Jordan, Kids Can Give Too’s very own in-house web developer, is working on just that. By summer’s end, we plan to launch a seamless hosting experience for “buddy parties” and twin parties!.
- OUR NEW CHILDREN’S BOOK: We are just weeks away from launching our new children’s book, THE GIFT OF GUITAR by Gaetan Pappalardo. Gaetan did an amazing job of crafting the perfect story that embraces everything we believe at Kids Can Give Too… That kids have big hearts and they can have a huge impact on their world.
- NEW PARTY DASHBOARD: We have been gathering the feedback of our awesome users and by the time school starts, we will have a brand new party dashboard that will be chock full of the new features you have asked for.
- NEW PARTY PACKAGES: We will have three new packages for our busy parents to choose from. We want to offer some great products that kids will love and make it as easy as possible for parents to plan a birthday party.
Whether you are a kid or a parent or champion: Thank you for supporting Kids Can Give Too as we continue to help kids show off their big hearts and change the world…simply by having a birthday party!
